Day 3 and 4 of the #yarnlovechallenge Currently making & Speed. I'm still knitting on my Swirl cardigan. I started this some time last summer to have it finished for a wedding but that didn't quite work out that way. Having said that my speed is obvious. Not so much in the sense of knitting slowly but besides full-time job and night time classes there just isn't as much knitting time as I'd like. Hence knitting slow. Day 2 of #yarnlovechallenge – Close-upBesides knitting I'm also spinning since 2003 and my close-up shows yarns that I spun during a few Maker Faire events here in Calgary. It's wool from unknown lawn mowers and I just dyed it in pretty bright and neon colours as I was trying out new dyes at the same time. It's the most fascinating for kids when they see and watch me spin.

Originally I'm from Leipzig, Germany and moved to Calgary, Canada over 9 years ago. Knitting has been my medium to find like minded people when I was first new here. It worked. I learned how to knit in grade 5 in school. Growing up in East Germany it was part of a class in crafts in most schools. After that I did knit on and off for a few years. Started at a sweater at 16 and finished with 19. Went on a hiatus, picked up the needles again in 2002 and have been knitting ever since. During the day I work as an Project Accountant and SRED Analyst while going to school at night. If I'm not working, studying or knitting I love to dance (kizomba, bachata, Salsa & tango), cook and hike if I find my way to the mountains.
