Wanda Nell Cardigan – FO

I have a FO to show: The Wanda Nell Cardigan.

The pattern peaked my interest because it is supposed to only use about 850m of fingering weight yarn or 2 skeins. I did use a bit more due to the slightly longer sleeves but if you keep them short you most likely get away with about 800-850m depending on yarn and size. Living in Canada short-sleeved cardigans don’t make sense to me 😉 With Winter approaching fast I’m thinking of still knitting the sleeves longer because I still have almost a full skein left.

Die Anleitung klang interessant, da laut Beschreibung nur etwa 850m oder 2 Knaeule Garn in Sockenwollstaerke benoetigt werden. Ich habe durch die etwas laengeren Aermel mehr verbraucht, aber ich denke mit kurzen Aermeln werden wohl die beschriebenen 850m je nach Garn und Groesse, reichen. Kurzaermelige Jacken machen fuer mich hier in Kanada keinen Sinn 😉 Der Winter kommt in grossen Schritten und ich ueberlege noch, ob ich die Aermel nicht doch noch laenger stricke. Wolle haette ich noch.

Cold Sheep – Kaltes Schaf

Even though this blog has been quiet for quite a while I wasn’t inactive, just didn’t feel like blogging. I’m still knitting and over the last year I did an experiment: After previous trials of a yarn diet I decided to just do it this time. Life keeps me busy with working full-time, studying part-time and trying to have some kind of a social life including a relationship. This all cuts into knitting time and the total of knitted yardage in a year is unfortunately not that much. After a while I just forgot that I’m on a yarn diet. And viola, one full year has gone by with no yarn purchase. I like that feeling so I will continue with it for a bit longer. 

Auch wenn dieser Blog fuer eine ganze Weile ruhig war, war ich nicht inaktiv, hatte nur keine Lust zum Bloggen. Ich stricke immer noch und im Laufe des letzten Jahres machte ich ein Experiment: Nach einigen frueheren Versuchen einer Wolldiaet entschied ich, es diesmal einfach zu machen. Vollzeitjob, Teilzeitstudium und der Versuch “nebenbei” auch noch eine Art Sozialleben inklusive einer Beziehung zu haben, laesst nicht viel Zeit zum Stricken. Die verstrickte Menge ist am Ende doch nicht so viel wie es sich anfuehlt. Nach einer Weile vergass ich einfach, dass ich “auf Diaet” bin. Und viola, auf einmal war ein ganzes Jahr ohne Wollkauf um! Ich mag das Gefuehl und werde einfach noch ein bisschen weitermachen.

Der zweite Ärmel ist jetzt auch fertig und damit ist das Stricken beendet. Ich werde aber die Teile vor’m Zusammennähen auf jeden Fall blocken müssen.

WIP Wednesday

Muehsam ernaehrt sich das Eichhoernchen 😉 Seit dem letzten Post hab’ ich ausschliesslich am Drops Cardigan gestrickt und mittlerweile ist er auf 17cm Laenge gewachsen, was in etwa 100 Reihen mit je 265 Maschen entspricht. Die Abnahmen fuer die Taille sind gemacht und nun geht’s erstmal ohne Besonderheiten weiter bis 20cm und dann fangen die Zunahmen an.

Bit by bit I’m knitting away on my Drops cardigan. I was knitting it exclusively since the last post and now it’s about 17cm / 6.5 inches long which is about 100 rows 265 stitches each 😉 The decreases for the waist are done and now I’m knitting until the piece measures about 20cm / 8 inches before starting the increases for the bust.

“Serrano” No.2 & Knit from your stash

Wie schon geschrieben gefällt mir meine fertige Serrano-Jacke sehr gut. Da ich sehr gerne kleine, dünne Strickjäckchen über’s Shirt im Büro trage, vor allem im Frühjahr und Herbst und bei so tollem Sommerwetter wie heute, fiel die Entscheidung, eine zweite Serrano-Jacke in glatt rechts und diesmal aus Sockenbaumwolle zu stricken, ziemlich schnell. Ich hatte nämlich vor einiger Zeit endlich schwarze Sockenbaumwolle :clap_tb: gefunden.

I love my serrano jacket. Because I often wear small cardigan with a shirt in the office in spring and fall and in summers with so “nice” weather like today (14°C) I decide to knit a 2nd serrano in stockinette stitch and with some cotton sock yarn from Lana Grossa in black.

Einige Bloggerinnen haben ja schon angemerkt, dass man von der “Knit from your stash” Aktion gar nicht so viel liest. Stimmt, außer meiner Statistik-Seite habe ich bisher auch nicht viel darüber geschrieben. Mittlerweile ist nun das erste halbe Jahr vorbei und eigentlich eine gute Gelegenheit, mal ehrlich zu sein :innocent_tb: :jittery_tb: Meinen Joker habe ich schon verbraten und verstrickt habe ich eigentlich auch nicht so viel. Den meisten Abbau machte die Wollspende für’s Strickcafé aus, die zum Glück auch schon zum Teil verwendet wurde, sonst hätte ich nur ein schlechtes Gewissen gehabt. Auf der anderen Seite ist es nicht Sinn und Zweck, Wolle zu horten, bei der man 100%ig weiß, dass man sie nicht mehr verstrickt (schwarz färben ging nicht :smileywink_tb:). Mein Stash (ohne Sockenwolle) sieht zumindest jetzt so aus:

Some German blogger note that nobody writes about the German “Knit from your stash”. That’s true but after the first half year it is a good time to think about. I bought some yarn and didn’t knit so much from my stash but I did a donation of yarn for the local knitting café. My current yarn stash without sock yarn looks like that:

Von Sockenwolle konnte ich mich allerdings auch nicht fernhalten und so sind in den letzten Wochen diese Knäule bei mir eingezogen:

Mein größter Stash ist allerdings meine Spinnwolle und da konnte ich mich bisher gut zurückhalten. Ich habe dieses Jahr noch keine Fasern gekauft, aber schon ein Kilo rote (!) Merino versponnen, die das Garn für den L’il Red Riding Hoodie aus dem Domiknitrix-Buch wird.

My biggest stash are my spinning fibers but I didn’t byu anything this year. I spun 1 kilo of red (!) merino for the L’il Red Riding Hoodie from the Domiknitrix-book.

Aber eine andere “Sucht” neben der Wolle habe ich auch noch: Stoffe. Letzte Woche kam mein Paket von stoffe.de und von Stoff am Stück an. Dazu gekommen sind 5m Nadelstreifen, 10m Stretchjersey, 3m Popeline, 2m Glen Check und 3m Satin. Alles Baumwollstoffe und bis auf den Glen Check natürlich in schwarz :happy_tb: Bis auf den Jersey habe ich die Stoffe letztes Wochenende alle gewaschen und gebügelt (2x 13m *puh*). Dafür wandern aber demnächst vorhandene Stoffe aus dem Stash zu Ebay.

But instead of spinning fibers I bought some fabrics, different cotton fabrics ( I don’t know the right English words for the fabrics). For these new fabrics in my stash I will sell some others with Ebay next time.

Ich denke, was das Kaufen von fertigen Garnen betrifft, werde ich nicht mehr so streng mit mir sein, da mein Stash nun wirklich nicht mehr groß ist. (Außerdem kommt Christiane von Drachenwolle am Samstag in unser Strickcafé :innocent_tb:)

Nachdem ich das ganze Wochenende auf die Sonne gewartet habe, hab’ ich heute entnervt aufgegeben und ein Tischphoto gemacht. Ein Bild mit Inhalt gibt es vielleicht später mal.

Es ist mein drittes großes Pullover-/Jackenteil und die erste englischsprachige Anleitung, aber ich habe mich gut geschlagen und ich freue mich über meine Jacke. Über den Verschluss mache ich mir noch Gedanken, da habe ich mich noch nicht entschieden. Der Schnitt der Jacke gefällt mir sehr gut, so dass ich ernsthaft überlege, mir das gleiche Modell nochmal in glatt rechts und mit Sockenbaumwolle zu stricken.

I waited for the sun the whole weekend but today I took a table picture. Maybe it will be a picture with me when the sun comes out again.

It is my 3rd sweater thing and the 1st pattern in English but I think I did it well and I enjoy my cardigan. Now I’m thinking about the hooks and eyes but it is summer and I have time :wink_wp: I like the shape of the cardigan so that I’m thinking about to knit a new one in stockinette stitch and some cotton yarn.

Mütze & Pullover / hat & sweater

Ich stricke ja immer noch am Pullover für meinen Mann, der aus meinem ersten komplett selbst gesponnenen Kilo schwarzer Merino entsteht. Mittlerweile bin ich bei den Ärmeln angekommen und stelle fest, dass er ganz schön lange Arme hat 😉

I’m knitting the sweater for my husband that I’m making from my first handspun merino. Now I’m knitting the sleeves and thinking he has very long arms 😉

Eigentlich wäre ich schon weiter, wenn sich mein Mann nicht letztes Wochenende noch eine Mütze gewünscht hätte.

But last weekend he wished a handknitted hat and so I didn’t knit the sleeves but the hat.
